Another Sunny Day

It was a slow start to the day with multiple changes of plans. A couple of the people who stayed for the weekend wanted to go to Hammershus. Because our hire car is only big enough for 7 people, not all of us could go. So in the end Tony, Henriette and Jonas stayed behind. I drove Jeremy, Xanthe, Lea, Otto, Anne-Marie and Jasmine to Hammershus. Hammershus is a castle ruin about 45 minutes drive from where we are staying. It is great for children and has terrific views of the coastline. Obviously it was of strategic importance. Xanthe and Otto had great fun playing princes and princesses. Otto is a 5 yo with bag loads of energy. He is the most engaging child with personality plus and Xanthe like playing with him a lot. Jasmine on the other hand is about 30 months old and was very annoyed at being put into the child seat in the car, so it took all her mother's and Jeremy's strength to achieve this. However the day was very successful. Our return trip was enhanced by getting slightly lost and going cross country a bit. This is a small enough island that it is not really possible to remain lost for long.
On our return, Henriette took Lea, Otto, Anne-Marie and Jasmine to the ferry for their journey home. We had our own adventures while she was away. Jonas was fed and watered before she left and was quite happy but it all got too much about half an hour before her return. I walked up and down with him and did all kinds of other things but he was inconsolable. Then a wasp started flying around him and I waved it away and promptly got stung. Ouch! Tony took Jonas from me and he promptly went to sleep! By the time Henriette arrived back all was quiet although Jonas had woken again and I was playing soccer and catch with Xanthe. So at the end of the day all is well!

  1. Is it just my imagination, or do I see some scaffolding against part of the castle? Perhaps it's being renovated so that it can again function as a lookout post - perhaps to be on guard against the encroaching euro?
